Today basalt rocks are heated and placed on the client's back, abdomen, face or hands to relieve muscle tension and increase the therapeutic effects of the massage. The rocks are also used to massage the different areas of the body the therapist is addressing. Heat is well known for relaxing muscle tissue and has been used for hundreds of years in that fashion.
Hot Stone Massages are the treatments of choice during cooler Fall, Winter, and early Spring months when the body needs the warming properties offered by the stones. |
