Our Philosophy:
TerraVie (Living Earth) finds its inspiration in our natural environment. Stemming from the realization that no organism is able to survive on its own, rather it requires resources found outside of itself to live the course of its life. Some organisms form symbiotic relationships with other organisms in order to thrive. At TerraVie, we believe that our creator has left us with a blueprint, a pattern that we can follow and apply to all aspects of our lives including Healthcare. How can we apply this relationships we witness all around us in our personal lives and to health our bodies and minds?

It begins with the small choices we make from the time we wake up in the morning to the time we lay down to sleep at night. It begins with breath, movement, foods, and social interactions (fulfilling our purpose). At TerraVie we take it one step at a time, reminding you of what you may have forgotten in the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. Here, you can take a break and reassess the direction in which you are heading. Allow yourself to consider other options if the path you are on is hurting you in one way or another. We believe in the power of STILLNESS and the clarity it brings. It all starts here, within YOU.

The breath:
The Breath is often take for granted. At birth we are all given this GIFT we call LIFE. We may say that life began at conception, but our life, independent from our parent, begins with the BREATH. After this initial moment when we take our first breath, we tend to forget the importance of BREATHING and begin to take it for granted. What if I told you that fully embracing this gift of life through the breath, can help you heal your body?

Practicing deep breathing in full awareness has been shown to greatly reduce stress, relieve muscle tension as it oxygenates the blood, organs and tissues, relax the mind and bring clarity, relieve pain, and improve digestion and assimilation of foods to only name a few. At least once a day, remember to breathe deeply and slowly exhale while being aware of the subtle changes you may experience taking place within your body. It is almost magical.

Movement:
What does this mean to you? Making changes in your work station? Having a talk with your boss? Maybe it may be uncomfortable to bring this up in your work place, but your colleagues will be glad you did. To emphasize the importance of movement, TerraVie has begun offering movement classes to all clients. We urge you to find a way to incorporate regular movement during every hour of your day. This is what we are meant to do!
Why do we NEED movement?
We were created with the ability to move in so many directions and in so many ways, yet we spend most of our adult life seated in front of a computer or steering wheel. Even though we may exercise for an hour a day, studies now show that it is not enough and total sitting time correlates with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and other prevalent chronic health problems—even if you exercise regularly! What we are beginning to see is that, we need return to a more natural state of being and living. This means that our days can no longer be spent sitting in a chair. Natural non-exercise Movement throughout the day is what is shown to maintain health throughout our lives. Regular Bodywork fits into this category due to the increased circulation of blood and lymph, and the flushing of toxins that occur during a Massage Session. |
Healing Foods:
How would you rank your diet on a scale of 1-10?
Food is essential to life and our choices of foods send messages of health or illness to our system whenever we ingest a food item or beverage. The foods we eat are directly responsible for activating certain genes in our bodies, some of which we may prefer to not have activated! If you are predisposed to have a certain illness through genetics, the way you eat CAN actually prevent you from developing this particular illness you were predisposed to. As is true with Mindful Breathing and Natural Movement, we need to return to the simplicity of living a healthy life when it comes to the way we feed our bodies. Fresh, local and organic are three key words to remember when going grocery shopping. Some of your best options are to make Saturdays a regular Farmers Market Day. Also, on the topic of building relationships with our environment and community, get to know your Local Farmers, Bee Keepers, and Herbalist! |
GET INVOLVED in your producing your own food. Start a small back yard or kitchen garden, use the herbs you grow in your cooking. Get connected which the nourishment that feeds your body and keeps you healthy. This relationship and trust you build between yourself and the food you eat goes a long way in preventing illness and degenerative diseases. Let FOOD be thy MEDICINE and your MEDICINE be thy FOOD.

Social Interactions:
Lastly, we want to consider the quality of our social interactions with our friends, families, and in our work place. Do we feel nourished or depleted by these interactions? Do we feel alone or loved and supported? Although these questions may not seem to have a direct correlation with our health, they do.
Our mental, emotional, and spiritual state has a great effect on our physical health. Stress does not necessarily have to be physical, it can also be emotional or spiritual in essence and wreak havoc on our health! If you follow a spiritual path, but have not felt aligned with it in a while, check in with yourself about the meaning of this disconnection. If friends and family are causing you stress, it may be time to have certain conversations with people. You are important and it is important to take the time to notice that and give yourself some time to reflect, meditate or pray. Reconnect with your most authentic self and prioritize your basic needs in order to remain healthy
